About Colin
Colin Brown was raised on a nursery in Northwest Montana and went on to study horticulture and landscape architecture at Cornell University.
After graduating in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science, Colin moved to Long Island, New York to work for Whitemores - a construction firm based out of East Hampton. These early years were formative for Colin as he transitioned from the theoretical world of university studies to the pragmatic construction industry. Colin learned scheduling, budgeting and construction sequencing for large estate gardens throughout the Hamptons. Time in the field was spent collaborating with some of the nation's leading landscape architects on high-end residential projects.
Following several years of experience in New York, Colin moved on to work as an associate designer at a Chicago-based architecture firm, Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects, and then later he took on the role of landscape architect at an established firm in Miami. Colin's experience at Raymond Jungles in Miami enriched his plant knowledge and design process in tropical and subtropical climates of Central America, Caribbean, The Bahamas and Florida - equipping him with unique capabilities to develop insightful projects across the Americas.
Colin founded CBLA with over a decade of experience in high-end residential and ecological restoration projects. Colin's proven design process is guided by extensive experience and an appreciation for the natural world that goes all the way back to his roots growing up on his family's nursery in Montana.
